Vat return due (Huge), Tax return due (Even bigger), customers haven’t paid up on time (As usual), work coming out of every orifice (No change there) and to top it all off, dad had a heart attack last Monday and has been told to expect more ‘episodes’ of the same nature (Such is the power of diabetes) followed by the biggest migraine I’ve had in over a year (Which really fucking hurt) and is hardly surprising under the circumstances.

Can I run away and hide? Can I get drunk or off my face and drown my misery? Can I fuck!!!

Having to face it all straight-laced and sober (though I've done that all my life anyway) is a real game of playing mental hide-and-seek from my inner frustrations. The thought of packing it all in and disappearing into a remote part of the world has crossed my mind once or twice.

Still - nothing in life has beaten me into the ground yet - and neither will this. Get yourself an old fridge, stick it in the garden and beat the shit out of it. Works for me. Clears the air, releases the tension and leaves me feeling a whole lot better. Same can't be said for the fridge. It is, well, smaller and reminds me of something that comes out of the crushing machine at a scrapyard. Old fridge V's 95kg (Tis true, I'm quite heavy for my size really)... we have a winner. And it isnt the fridge.

Material Force. Material temptation; sometimes obsession

The Devil is often a great card for business success; hard work and ambition.

Perhaps the most misunderstood of all the major arcana, the Devil is not really "Satan" at all, but Pan the half-goat nature god and/or Dionysius. These are gods of pleasure and abandon, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This is a card about ambitions; it is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate or messy or wild - or ambitious. This, too, is a form of enslavement. As a person, the Devil can stand for a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling, or just persuasive. This is not to say a bad man, but certainly a powerful man who is hard to resist. The important thing is to remember that any chain is freely worn. In most cases, you are enslaved only because you allow it.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

It was the annual Pit Halloween event last Saturday - which was truly splendid. And which I actually won!!!

For those that don't remember, last year I rocked up as a Viking and over did it with the weight to floor-being-able-to-sustain-me ratio, so this year, I tried a much lighter ensemble. Didn't stop me sweating my goolies off all night though!

Taking a rather impressive 3 months to construct from scratch (Of which most of that was the helm), I rolled into the event as the WitchKing of Angmar.

Costume comprised the following...

1 sheet of pressed steel
1 pair of Garden gloves.
2 boxes of Black dye
1 bedthrow
15 meters of Sari material.
12 vinyl floor tiles
1 tube of metal weld
1 tube of epoxy resin
5 tubes of superglue
28 splt pins
1 can of Silver Hammerite
1 can of Black Hammerite
1 tin of gold paint
1 tin of rust paint
1 Dremel tool.

Stunningly daunting to start with, when I was faced with raw materials and some stills from the ROTK, but once it got going, took shape quite quickly.

Some pictures (Suitably artified with the pub background removed) of it in full use.

Now - onto next years... which I have already started. Might try something really hard for the next one. How sad!

And yes - that really is me under there and yes - I really did make it all.

Enjoy.

One of my practice/experimental ideas, which I was going to use as an example site in my portfolio got snapped up by an existing client, before I'd even got it onto the server!

Their old one is thus: http://www.riskgovernance.com

The new one (Which is not finished yet and still has a lot of sodding about to do) is: http://www.ravensloft.co.uk/clients/rgl/

It's not big and it's not clever, but it is clean and simple and considering I was only sodding about in practice mode one night to knock that together, it has netted me £750.

It was this one: http://www.ravensloft.co.uk/clients/actros/ , the original experiment, that made them want to change over (I was trying to draw glass freehand).

So the moral of the story is, never throw anything away. You'd be surprised what you can sell to small financial and risk asessment groups as 98% of their sites suck!

I have three other financial sites in dev at the moment because the industry sites in general are so pants and its a nice little monetary bonus!

I don't claim to be the best at what I do, but I do claim to know what I am doing :)

(And beforetearsxintherainsays anything - they will probably fail every single accessibility test! :) )

Is it me or is it now perfectly acceptable to have mass punch-ups on buses?

Twice in the last couple of days there have been 'incidents' involving the use of excessive force on a bus, once on the 267 in the early evening and once last night on the N9 and not so long ago was witness to what can only be described as 'pram-rage'.

The 267 affair was swift and brutal and turned out to be a guy sitting at the back of the bus that looked as though he was just getting up to get off and promptly laid into a guy 3 seats in front of him. That turned out to be a man landing a few on his ex-wifes new lover. All nicely recorded on CCTV.

Last night was just unnecessary. Four 'dark skinned' individuals kicked the crap out of a Polish tourist at 2am on the N9 stuck between Chiswick and Brentford becuase he had spilt his beverage on a new pair of trainers!! Bus halted, police nowhere to be seen (For an hour - bit like another N9) and four 'kids' with their trousers round their arse cheeks hurling abuse at the bus in (and Im guessing here) 'street jive'.

I got home very late.

The pram incident was more funny than anything else. You can only get two buggies/prams comfortably on a bus. All praise the bus driver for allowing three and causing havok in the gangway. The feud was between two Somalians (immigration acceptence pending) and an afro-Caribbean woman who's buggy contained nothing but saucepans from Robert Dias, the infamous Ironmonger. The argument was over who of the three should situate their buggy by the exit doors, therefore having to move it every time someone wanted to get off. I speak neither Somalian nor afro-Caribbean, but understood the plethora of insults being hurled in either direction, as they traded banter whilst trying to stand upright amidst the uber-stopping power of a bus probably lined with ninja-bastard kevlar breaks and a driver with a very heavy foot...

The whole scene smacked of slapstick comedy as a burly mama confronted two semi-ninjas in a "My saucepans are worth more than your kids" debate. They 'were' nice saucepans though!! If I hadnt had to get off, I'd have stayed on all the way to Hammersmith, just to see the outcome.

I therefore conclude that Publique de Transport has gone right down the kegger!

Quiz night at the Black Horse in Richmond (The same place that the Pit is held on a Saturday) occurs on a Wednesday and might seem sad and middle aged but is actually mildly amusing. Especially as most weeks, my team and I are either second or first.

Team names range from the pants to the stupid. Names such as 'Brutal Starfish' and 'Rugged Onion' (Visualised here for a better understanding of just how stupid they actually are)

Other names have included 'Hardcore bunny fuckers' and several others that I cant remember.

Ok, so I was bored and had 10 minutes to kill.

I think therefore, I am...knackered!

On a lighter side - Inferno may well tempt me out of my shell tomorrow (Before I plunge headlong back into my work the following day!
Christmas came and went - And just for a change, the family did not get so uncontrollably drunk, that my brother tried to shove the tree into someones face. So dysfunctional and so splattered to the four winds are my family members these days, Boxing day was the only time we were all in the same room. A godsend in hindsight as the amount of time availble to them to actually wreak havok and let slip the dogs of excessive alcohol consumption was limited to half a day. Nothing broken, no blood, no need to remove the pointy end of a 6ft flame retardant shimmery effigy of xmas from someones nostril!!! I could barely contain my glee at not having to spend Boxing day 'boxing' up broken glass. A quiet Christmas for a change - that wont happen again!

Most of it was spent in the confines of my bed, armed with remote controls and a plethora of unhealthy sustinance. The only time I got up was to go to the fridge. The only other time after that, was to empty my fridge intake!

New Year's came and went - Last year was a memorable excursion to the Iguana in Staines which was for once, a NYE that was remarkably enjoyable. I just couldn't be arsed to do anything this year expect catch up on the mountain of work I have on. I did pop out and did see in the New Year and promptly left for home 20 seconds after the last Big Ben Bong!

2006 arrives on the scene like Morph on steroids - If last year is anything to go by and one look at my year planner; I should be out again in July! A busier shedule than an Iranian Terrorist on commission - I have quite possibly bitten off more than I can chew, but thats not uncommon for me and as usual - I shall just get on with it. A potentially exciting year project-wise and also financially speaking. This years goal is to continue the pattern of doubling my turnover each year. Thats not going to be easy as last year was almost £50k- not bad for a self-employed net-nerd that works out of the spare room in his house!

2006 has all the makings of being an interesting 12 months, for many reasons, not just on the work front. We shall see...
